Lighthouse Baptist Academy Tuition Assistance Policy
At Lighthouse Baptist Academy, we strive to make a high-quality Christian education accessible to as many families as possible. To assist with tuition costs, we offer multiple forms of financial aid. Please review the options below to determine which programs your family may qualify for.
External Financial Aid Programs
1. CHOOSE Act - Alabama's Education Savings Account (ESA) Program
The CHOOSE Act provides eligible families with state-funded Education Savings Accounts (ESA) to help cover private school tuition and other approved educational expenses.
- Eligibility: Families must meet state income or eligibility requirements as determined by the Alabama Department of Education.
- Application Process: Families must apply through the official state portal at https://classwallet.com/alchoose/
- Use of Funds: ESA funds can be applied toward tuition and other approved costs.
- Important Restriction: Families receiving CHOOSE Act ESA funds are NOT eligible for any internal financial aid, including church member and multi-student discounts.

2. Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund (AOSF)
The Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund (AOSF) is a state-approved scholarship program that provides tuition assistance to low-income families.
- Eligibility: Income-based requirements apply. Families must meet the criteria established by AOSF.
- Application Process: Families must apply directly through AOSF at https://www.alabamascholarshipfund.org/
- Use of Funds: AOSF scholarships may NOT be eligible for any internal financial aid, including church member and multi-student discounts.

Lighthouse Baptist Academy Internal Financial Aid
LBA offers need-based and multi-student tuition assistance, as well as discounts for active church members. These scholarships are designed to help families afford Christian education while prioritizing church families and those with multiple children enrolled at LBA.
Important Notes for Internal Aid
- ESA Restriction: Families receiving CHOOSE Act ESA funds are NOT eligible for any internal financial aid.
- Annual Application: Internal scholarships must be applied for annually.
- Required Documentation: All applicants must submit a completed financial aid application form and copies of the most recent tax returns.
- Application Timeline: Applications for LBA financial aid must be submitted through our school office by the posted deadline.
The Ambassador Scholarship (Need-Based Aid)
- Awarded Based On: Financial need, number of students enrolled, and church membership status.
- Priority Order:
- Active Church Members: Families who are active members of Lighthouse Baptist Church receive first priority for available scholarships.
- Multi-Student Families: Families with three or more students enrolled at LBA are eligible for a multi-student discount.
- General Need-Based Awards: Remaining scholarship funds are allocated based on demonstrated financial need.
Multi-Student Discount
- First and Second Child: Full tuition applies (no discount).
- Third Child: 15% discount.
- Fourth Child and Beyond: 20% discount.
Church Member Discount
- Active members of Lighthouse Baptist Church receive a 15% tuition discount for their enrolled children.
- Church membership is verified annually by the pastoral staff.
How to Apply for Financial Aid at LBA
- Determine Eligibility: Review the above programs to see which option(s) fit your family's needs.
- Apply for External Aid First: If eligible, apply for the CHOOSE Act ESA or Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund.
- Submit an LBA Financial Aid Application: If seeking internal aid, complete the Lighthouse Baptist Academy Financial Aid Application (available through the school office or downloadable from our website at https://www.lbatheodore.com/financial-guide/).
- Submit Required Documentation: Include all requested financial documents with your application.
- Receive Notification: Families will be notified of any awarded aid before tuition billing is finalized.
